News

I believe we have enough people to say that this AR thing will definitely happen. Here are the people who are in - also, I took the liberty of inviting the folks I'm currently living with (Ben, Luke and Matt Ho) because it was appearing that we might not have enough to justify the trip, anyway:

Steve, Thushan, David, Myself, Mark (probably), Ben (probably), Luke (probably), Matt (probably) Nathan (maybe), Kenan (?).

The way I believe we should make this happen to observe suggestions for transportation travel and financial resource sharing in the form of 'comments' for this and subsequent entries. I realize it's a ways away, but I'd like to work out the details soon, so that we all may be relaxed and clear on what needs to happen.

We need to establish a place to leave from, and travel logistics. I will be driving my families van, which has plenty of room, but it will need to stay in AR at the end of our time. So, we need transportation sufficient to get everyone back to their respective homes without it. Also, I will be staying in AR after you all leave to meet my parents so leaving from my house is fine, but if any cars are left at my house, no one will be there on the way back...maybe this isn't an issue? And, finally, I think we should all pool our resources in the form of 50$/person for gas, food and 35$ cleaning fee - whatever is left at the end of the 4 days we divy out evenly and people can figure out gas money on the way back individually.

So now we take suggestions...Where should we leave from? When should we leave, when should we meet to leave (if we establish this now, we won't all have to try and get in touch later-plus it'd help give my parents an idea of what to expect)? and lastly, when does the fun end?

My parents have said the house is booked from mon. the 24th (jul) to the 6th (aug) and we can overlap however we want...but when my parents arrive on Friday evening it will become quite crowded if everyone stays...I know Steve has a wedding to attend on sat. the 29th, so at least one car will need to head out either thurs. or friday. Good grief - that is all.

Message from Dad Krabill

"I booked the house for July 24 monday to Aug. 6th. We will arrive on
Fri. July 28th for our week. We can overlap however you want. Let me
know if you are definite on this since we would want to have it open to
rent if it is not being used."~Elvin Krabill

Okay guys, this is what's up - let me know as soon as possible.
David's in, that's all I know.

It would seem that I completely forgot about my inquiry concerning skiing at the beginning of this month. To those of you who expressed interest (Steve and Andy), please consider this a formal appology for my absent memory. At any rate, they closed for the season the next week anyway so...yeah.

To make up for this we all (including those of you who didn't offer to drive from Iowa to go skiing) should all go invade The Natural State sometime, say around July 24-28 or maybe August 7-10/11. That way we can have nearly no responsibilities for a few days and can drink root beer until we feel sick or have to pee a lot which ever comes first.

Also: Hey steve, that's a great article thing about Bugs Bunny. I think I will read it instead of doing my job for the next hour or so.

1st Annual Aurora House Retreat?????

Aurora House,

Kenan the Valient has reminded me recently of a pledge...or maybe more of a suggestion...that we all more or less agreed upon regarding annual or biannual get-together type thingys where we all get to hang out with few responsibilities. So with the K-Man having mentioned Arkansas as a potentional location, I inquired with the rents and this is the response. Pops is checking into open dates for the summer and will email me tomorrow (20th) - potential blocks include July 24-28 and August 7-10/11. We'd have the boat, a lake house, ladies (if we want that) and (near)complete independence from responsibility. Expenses would include gas (for trip and boat), food and the 35$ cleaning fee when we leave, that's it. I think we should do this. Let me know... andrewlk@goshen.edu .

Hey, David

Did you ever see the episode of Bug Bunny where he plays all positions on the baseball field? I remember watching it when I was young. Anyway, I found a website where I person put a ton of time into analyzing the game.

Yeah, Steve, I watched the last 4 arrested development episodes (I still have them on my computer because they are so awesome). So, if anyone wants to see them again let me know.

Anyone else ever watch the videos on the Daily Show website? Good stuff. That's about the most interesting thing in my life right now. Or at least my lunch breaks every day. Check it...

Is anyone here in Goshen interested in going skiing some sunday afternoon/evening before it gets too warm at the end of March? The Swiss Valley Ski Area place is pretty close and although less than amazing when compared with other ski places such as chestnut mountain in Galena, it's still skiing. Plus it's only $15 for both lift ticket and rentals after 3:00 on sundays. Anyone up for it?

Dearest Educators Among Us

Okay guys,

here's the latest...at the suggestion of my dad, no less - the arkansas house doesn't rent in the winter anyway...so we all grace the south with our liberal tendencies and get jobs at one of the several new very large consolidated high schools near cherokee village, ar...and live on the lake during the winter - then we move out in the summers so the house can rent - its nearly rent free for us and dad doesn't lose any rent time - plus we live in a sweet lake house with a giant deck - we can grill in the dead of winter!!
