Today's News

Today Kenan and I have confirmed housing for the year. Though nothing has been signed, Ben, we can probably squeeze you for a few monthsif you can't find anything else. Nathan, are you in for Arkansas? You can make a decision last minute, just curious what you're thinking...I've been in Goshen the last day or so and haven't seen Thushan, but Thushan, the word is that you could fly into jonesboro, but for some reason with the connections necessary to get there...even leaving from Chicago would result in over 12 hours travel...you may as well drive - all other nearest destinations are roughly 2.5-3 hours each way from the house after flight arrival...and the 1 way flights aren't cheap, though they are shorter...are you sure you can't take the other days off? We checked expedia, orbitz and travelocity. the nearest airports are jonesboro, ar , little rock, ar , and memphis, tn ... Mark I still haven't started my canoe, but hopefully by the 21st you'll have something to hack at. Davey, stop playing video games and spend some time with the wifey. Steve is sleeping.

Hey Dormhouseguys

Remember when we watched Rugby and it was the only thing that got us through those tough tough winter months?

Well, I found sweet video of the All Blacks doing the Haka which is sweet in it own regard. However, the team they are playing Tonga also does a pregame wardance which multiplies the immensity of badarseness.

Klick for awesomeness

The Great Return

On Saturday June 17, 2006 theguyupstairs and housemate of theguyupstairs, who shall go nameless, pulled off an elaborate plan to secretly return property which had been earlier procured in an equally elaborate heist.

Here is the property in question.

Another look at said property already loaded up into the super sweet ride which will take it to its final destination.

The trip to our super secret destination was nerve racking and tensions ran high as we faced unexpected delays such as a stop sign and traffic congestion.

When we arrived at our destination I put on shades and a hat to conceal my identity and a backpack so as to look like a typical college student out for a stroll during the middle of summer with a mini fridge.

I did some bold yet painstaking reconnaissance work to make sure the coast was clear.

Despite the enormous risk and danger involved my skilled driver calmly waited by the car. In fact, he most certainly would have been casually smoking a cigarette had we not been most respectful of this secret location's stringent 'no smoking' policy.

The Great Return!

Of course we ingeniously made sure the property would have a safe arrival.

As the skillful driver peeled out of the nondescript parking lot we were filled with an overwhelming sense of pride in our accomplishment.

Before and after.

And there was much rejoicing!

Is anyone currently residing in Goshen willing to give poor ol' davey a ride to Andy's for the inaugural Arkansas Woot? I'll buy that person wine in a box. That is a lie. Maybe.

Thank you for the Music

Abba rocks the house again I'm afraid.

So I'm sort of a timid yak. I'm resorting to my middle-schoolish ways of avoidance in times of confrontation. I thought I had figured out who I was, no. I guess not. Maybe next time around I'll get it. I'm currently in Chicago working on a Video Production for Chicago Mennonite Learning Center. I am staying in the VS house there and it's far easier to urinate out my upstairs bedroom window than go down stairs to use the bathroom and face certain conversation with persons I'm not really interested in talking with. I feel I have to be nice to them. I'm tired of being nice. Actually I'm just tired in general. It's 11:50pm and I've been looking at computer screens since about 8:00am this morning. Back to the peeing out the window. I haven't actually urinated out said window yet. It has crossed my mind a few times though. Any thoughts on being confrontational are welcome. Especially from Steven. eh? how about it.

On another note. Robyn and I aren't together now. We have differences, she has some getting older to do and I have some figuring-out-who-I-am-so-I-don't-have-to-pee-out-the-window to be doing. (I'm reading Phil Yancey's "What's so Amazing about Grace?" now and it has some interesting things.) I did and do value her friendship nonetheless. She and I had some very wonderful conversations and I learned quite a bit about myself from her. We left it as we'd keep in touch and see what sorts of people we are in a couple of years and if we haven't found our soul mates by then maybe give it another go. I gotta admit, she was cute, and she did know how to go shopping for pants.

volunteering and stuff/arkansas plan: upgrade 2.006

been working at camp lately ...just finished a 3 meal stint as the menno haven dishwasher. this is good because i get three all-you-can-eat style meals in a row, but bad because i was basically the only person doing the dishes for the roughly 100 other guests also enjoying all-you-can-eat style meals. plus they were hispanic..and while that in itself is not bad, many of them could not read english...and thus, also the dirty dish bins which distinguish where forks knives and spoons are supposed to be placed. i hate forks. though, looking back, since it was volunteer i didn't technically have to be there...and it most certainly couldn't have sucked as much as steve's job, so consider the purpose of said story information rather than persuation of suckiness.

arkansas plan: upgrade 2.006
since our first day in arkansas is monday the 24th why they hell don't you all just come over on friday the 21st? do it if you want, don't if you don't - i'll be here...heck, if everyone's here and there's no one renting we can go down early. Let me know what you think your plans 'll be.
